Police launched safer festive operation in Laudium

The police closed down a liquor place and two men, aged 19 and 40 were arrested for selling liquor without a license during a police operation in Itireleng Settlement in Lauidum.

The operation was launched by Laudium Police, Community Police Forum (CPF), Ladium Disaster Management, Security Companies and Counselor Farouk Essopother Enforcement on Wednesday afternoon.

The Laudium police spokesperson, Sergeant Simon Chokoe, said the operation also included a stop and search and a roadblock and it is a proactive approach to the coming festive season.

The police also gave the community safety tips such as not exposing valuables in cars and to lock their cars.

The Laudium SAPS Station Commander Lieutenant Colonel Margaret Nkwane applauded and welcomed all stakeholders involved in the fight against crime. Suspects arrested during the raid will appear in Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court soon.
