The Phelindaba Arts and Culture Forum spent Mandela Day at Leamogetswe Safety Home in Attradgeville for 67 minutes of Mandela Day.

The day was spent with participants taking part in gardening activities, listening to motivational speeches, and a broadcast on Pheli FM.

Mr Bodwa Khuzwayo from Phelindaba Art and Cultural Forum said the activities were in order to fulfill the pledge made to Mr Nelson Mandela to support one another.

“We helped one another to create peace, promote humanity, and to share what we have and it was a fantastic, inspiring day for all of us,” he said.

Mr Mzwakhe Mzamo Vilane of Phelindaba Art and Cultural Forum said, “We helped the orphans in the garden, planting trees, and playing games with them.

“The orphans are content and the day was undoubtedly one of their best, and we thoroughly enjoyed every second of it.

“If you can observe the humanity of people today, the way they helped one another is wonderful and heartwarming because it’s uncommon. My wish is that Nelson Monday is observed every day so that there won’t be any impoverished people, hatred, or difficult living conditions in the world if people can adopt this kind of lifestyle every day,” he said.

Ms Sully Sithole, from Leamogetswe Safety Home, said “We are grateful for the community’s support. We are grateful that they value this day for us. We received many gifts, and our patients are grateful to the Phelindaba Art and Cultural Forum for providing them with a complimentary supper.

“Mr Mendela wants us to use this day for good, so I hope that everyone will continue to honor it and act humanely toward one another,” she said.
