The City of Tshwane through the department of Community and Social Development Services has donated 40 blankets and 40 hygiene packs to residents at the Hofmeyer Inn old age home on 20 July 2021.
MMC for Community and Development Services, Ms Thabisile Vilakazi, said the residents at the old age home were in desperate need of blankets to keep warm as the winter chill continues.
“The donation forms part of activities marking Nelson Mandela Day and as the department for Community and Social Development Services, we plan on assisting those in need throughout the month of July,” she said.
Ms. Vilakazi said, “We are committed to ensuring that we embrace the opportunity to celebrate Nelson Mandela’s life and legacy beyond just one single day but for the whole month of July.”
“As the City of Tshwane, we will continue to assist where we can especially during times of misfortune. The relief packages are our way of extending a helping hand to the most vulnerable in our City. I encourage all the residents of Tshwane to support and donate to the vulnerable in their communities,” she said.
