The City of Tshwane Executive Mayor Randall Williams and Counsellor Sylvester Phokoje, the MMC for Human Settlement donated computers and desks to a computer lab to Patogeng Primary School in Atteridgeville.
The school was also presented with the donation for the school’s new lab to assist learners as they return to the classrooms this week.
The new desks and computers with Wi-Fi connections will enable uninterrupted access to internet service.
The mayor said the computers will assist them in catching up with schoolwork as the Covid19 has caused a lot of disruptions in the education sector.
“The pupils must learn the new ways of online learning because Covid-19 is still here and the world is changing to digitization.
“We need to start preparing our youngsters for the new type of work opportunities that will be available at a young age,” said Mayor Williams.
This initiative also forms part of the City’s Nelson Mandela Month drive to assist those in need.
“The school has strong security measures in place to protect the new lab for future generations,” he said.
