The Art of Charity foundation donated sanitary pads to Atteridgeville teenage girls on August 08 2020.08.11

The organization was established on August 03 2020 and it is on the road to giving more to the community.

Ms MmaKgotso Ratiba, the founder of the Art of Charity foundation along with other members started the foundation in order to supply sanitary pads to disadvantaged girls. The foundation is all about giving back to the community, from food parcels, toiletries, cleaning public facilities and raising awareness on issues like gender-based violence and teenage pregnancy.

“Basically the Art of Charity foundation allows the community to help the less fortunate with basic things and, so the donated items are handed over to different charities of our choice,” she said.

The biggest challenges that the foundation is facing are sponsorship and funding as they are not able to donate enough basic needs to charities and the community.

The foundation has been approaching local brands, funeral parlors and event managers for assistance.

“We are willing to work hard so that we can find help, but even if it takes time we will not give up. We appreciate the help we get from the community including the volunteers.

One of the community members who donated sanitary pads to the foundation, Ms Lindokuhle Ngobeni, said she will keep on donating to the foundation because sanitary pads are basic needs for women.

“I cannot bear the thought of another woman using tissues and clothes, because she could not afford sanitary pads,’ she said.

The foundation hopes to grow in the future and keep on giving back to the community.

“We see the Art of Charity foundation as one of the first South African girls foundations to be established in Atteridgeville that reaches out to as many disadvantaged people as possible, at the end of the day, it is all about empowering women and giving them hope,” she said.
