The City of Tshwane Community and Social Development Service Department donated one wheelchair and four walker rollators to the Danville Old Age Home on 18 May 2021. This comes after the department interacted with the management of the facility, where they kindly requested assistance from the City.

MMC for Community and Social Development, Ms. Thabisile Vilakazi said it became clear during our visit to the old age home that some of their elderly were in need of walkers and a wheelchair.

Ms Vilakazi said Tshwane launched the second phase of the City’s mass vaccinations program. Elderly people form part of the target group that has been prioritized to receive vaccinations.

“The city encourages persons who are over the age of 60 to register the wall COVID-19 vaccination,” she said.

Ms. Vilakazi said their Department will continue its work to support the vulnerable In the communities we believe that, a little can go a long way to assist those in need.

“This need was made more urgent by the fact that some older persons at the home are required to travel to the designated Covid-19 vaccination sites,” she said.

Ms. Vilakazi said “ The City was happy to assist in this regard through the department of Communication and Social Development Services. The department moved quickly to procure the four walkers and a wheelchair and donated them right away,”
