The Salvokop Uprising Cycling Club received donations of bicycles as part of kick-starting transport month at an event that took place at Freedom Park on the 11th of October 2021 by the City of Tshwane.
This is done to create awareness as part of non-motorized transport. The Salvokop Uprising Cycling Club was launched by the City of Tshwane together with The Culture Hub and the Salvokop Youth Development Centre.

Councillor Randall Williams, Executive Mayor of the City of Tshwane said this campaign is for providing safe and healthy alternative modes of transport for the people of Tshwane.
The bicycles donated were part of 142 bicycles from the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport’s Shova Kulula Programme.
“Communities can assist us greatly in this regard by opting for cycling and taking walks in their neighborhoods. The City is also developing NMT infrastructure along Solomon Mahlangu Road to enable the safe transit of commuters by foot and bike.
The aim of the City is being net-zero carbon and climate-resilient by 2050,” the Mayor said.
