Gauteng Province Premier, Mr David Makhura, today visited the Tshwane Vaccination sites in Saulsville Arena in Atteridgeville and KT Motubatse Hall in Soshanguve to inspect the newly opened vaccination sites in the City of Tshwane and to monitor progress since resuming operations.

Accompanied by the Gauteng Health MEC, Dr Nomathemba Mokgethi, the Premier said the government is introducing mass vaccination sites in the province hence the Saulsville Arena was chosen and visited because it accommodates 2000 people a day.

He said the province currently vaccinates over 50 000 people a day and their aim is to double the number of vaccinations administered per day to 100 000.

“We will be working with the Post Offices next door because residents come to the Post Office to get their pensions and grants, so this arena for the next grant payment will be able to catch the elderly people right here when they come for their pensions.

We are strategically closer to the post office so that the elderly people don’t have difficulties going up and down,” said Premier Makhura.

He said the provincial government is on a drive to expand vaccination sites across the province to make sure that everyone who is suitable is not left out.

“All Gauteng sites do allow walk-ins even if people are registered or not,” he said.
