The City of Tshwane intensified its revenue collection and by-law enforcement efforts during the ongoing Tshwane Ya Tima campaign, targeting businesses accused of non-compliance with municipal regulations and outstanding debt.
MMC for Finance, Cobus Coetzee, and MMC Flora Monama led an inspection at the Sunbake factory in Pretoria West, during which officials identified several compliance violations. According to the City, the facility owes approximately R92,000 in outstanding municipal rates and is allegedly operating without approved building plans.
Municipal teams also disconnected an illegal electricity connection after discovering that the business had reportedly reconnected after a previous disconnection. Officials removed the cable to prevent further unlawful use of electricity. This sparked public concern, with workers worried about how they would continue with their work.

The Tshwane Ya Tima campaign is part of the municipality’s broader strategy to recover outstanding debt, enforce compliance with municipal by-laws, and ensure that businesses and property owners meet their legal obligations, as stated previously by the Mayor, Dr Nasiphi Moya, during the implementation of this by-law enforcement
City officials have reiterated that unlawful connections, unapproved developments, and non-payment of municipal services will not be tolerated as enforcement operations continue across Tshwane.
