Atteridgeville born radio star, Mr Bob Kgomotso Mabena, has died at age 51 on 10 August 2020.
Mr Mabena who has been in the radio industry for over 31 years, was admitted at a hospital in centurion and was discharged on Monday morning and complicated thereafter and returned to the hospital.
Given Mkhari, chairman of POWER 98.7 where Mr Mabena hosted a breakfast show said Mr Mabena was with his wife, Ms Eucharist Mabena when he started experiencing pains.
“They drove back to the hospital and he was taken into ICU and pronounced dead thereafter.
“The Dr told us that he suspected a cardiac attack,” Mr Mkhari said.
He said the family and friends are still coming to terms with his passing and respectfully requests the public to afford them the appropriate space.
Mr Mabena was a well- known radio and television personality best known for hosting radio shows on stations such as Metro FM, Khaya FM, Highveld Stereo, and POWER 98.7.
He was born 26 July 1969 in Atteridgeville Pretoria and started his radio career in 1989 at Radio Bop. After spending three years in the North West and having ventured into television as well, he was recruited to be station manager at Metro FM.
